Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's past combines the virtues of family football scholarships and volunteering for the community. Selmon is the son from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon. They had him raised on the farm they owned in Eufala. In football, he played along with three siblings for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starting line-up for just one year. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. During his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting line-up The Sooners finished 32-1-1 and captured two championships. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours each week working as a volunteer during his college years. Following college, he moved to Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers played all-pro three times, before beginning a new business career. In 1988, he was appointed an account relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He as well worked for the following associations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's 10 outstanding young men. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs 256 pounds. He was a captain on his college team in the year 1975. He was promoted to an associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame honored him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. He and his parents Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The award presentation was given by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
